Third day – Terceiro dia

When we left, the GPS was telling us that Fatima was 30km away. Even though we were still sore from these first days of adaptation, the first kilometers were not hard. When we saw the sign saying that the sactuary was 20km away, we made the maths and considering that we were cycling at 10km/h, in two hours we would get there… after a few minutes we had to make new calculations when we looked at the GPS and we realized we were going at only… 5km/h!

12.35am and the tandem arrived to the main road in Fatima. This was the first of the four sanctuaries we aim to visit and we want to dedicate this day to one of our sponsors: Santos Silva, in Benedita, Portugal. The equipments we have that were given by them have made all the difference so far and are of great quality. To them that, even though they didn’t know us, were so kind and nice, a huge thank you for the suupport!

By the end of the day we found in the town of Caxarias a group of five pilgrims walking towards Santiago. Three of them from Czech Republic, Vladimir, Yann and Peter, and a couple from Poland, with whom we had a nice talk and took some photos that will bring good memories one day.
