Fifth day – Quinto dia

We said goodbye to Suzanne and Helder that left pretty early. They were already downstairs ready to leave without having any breakfast when we called them and offered them one of our homemade energy bars. In exchange, we got a kind smile and a pure “thank you”. It seems like the small things we give away become double as when we were arriving to Coimbra, close to Santa Clara bridge, we had our family members, Tita, Mariana and Miguel, waiting for us with delicious food that ended up being our lunch, we couldn’t ask for better!

We stopped cycling at around 6pm in the Albergue of Santo António that was part of the Celeste Residential, in Águeda, where the conditions were excellent and the staff was very kind and helpful. Our dinner was so enjoyable, shared with the other pilgrims: a Brazilian couple that shared their pasta, we shared our rice with cod, and a Spanish couple that shared their soup and tortilla. So good!
